Dive in Pivka cave
Connection between Postojna cave system and Planinska cave is topical again. This year divers led by Sebastjan Gantar and Igor Vrhovec have revisited siphons in Pivka cave. The last progression was made by Tomo Vrhovec and his team in year 1998 when they went behind third siphon of river Pivka which runs through Planinska cave. This year they made it through all three siphons and beyond.
On 14.1.2015 they dived through first siphon and on 21.2. the lifeline was installed through third siphon. On 30.4they were already surveying new parts and reached the fourth siphon. Next dive was on 17.5. when they went through the fourth siphon. This time (20.6.) they surveyed the cave behind fourth siphon and reached fifth siphon. Since the start of new dives they prolonged the Postojna cave system for approximately three kilometers. And that's not the end of it.
